The garden has truly started producing, not just the small amount of asparagus or the peas, but we are now in the swing of zucchini's, beans, broccolli and cucmbers. The tomatoes are not far off.
The trick for me will now to stay caught up on the canning.
Tally
Yellow zucchini - 2 meals worth
Green zucchini - 3 meals worth
Yellow beans - 1 meals worth
Broccoli - 2 meals worth
Cucmbers - a dozen or so gherkins in brine

Customer Service - on the other side.
Everyone talks about horrible customer service, what they fail to mention is horrible customers.
I work in customer service and I pride myself on doing a good job. I love to help and I love the challenge at fixing an issue. Basically I answer the phone and field questions, queries and TRY to solve problems.
The thing is so many people forget, they may be frustrated or annoyed by an issue. But when I pick-up the phone it is the first time I am hearing about it.
My computer is not magic, I can not press a button and immediately solve the worlds oil issues. Not all computers work the same, just beacuse your bank can look you up using your DOB and name does not mean the one I use will.
If I ask a question it is no because I do not believe you, but rather I know nothing about what you have experienced, I am not with you please answer me so i can help.
Please do not tell me about your cat which makes noises like a goat. Please do not use graphic sexual details, I only want to know what is wrong so I can fix it.
Please don't scream at your kids and in my ear.
Let me do my job, let me solve your problems and then say thank you.

Trying to fit it all in
So Mondays are always busy. I wish I didn't have to work outside the farm but we are not big enough to be able to support the income I make especially as we don't always get paid by the farm.
I work 52.6miles from home yes I have measured it!! Takes about an hour each way, unless there is snow or roadworks and the rule of thumb appears to be if there is no snow there is roadworks so then it takes 75 - 85 mins as long as I avoid the school buses.
I work for a company who sells organizations systems, in customer service answering phones and emails, entering orders, and designing closets. I love the company but don't always find my job the most challeging. I used to work in finance and I miss the way my brain was challenged.
But as I live in a rural area and even the closest city doesn't have the type of roles I used to do, without starting from the bottom again. I really was originally hoping to become a business analyst before I met my husband. Yet I digress.
Mondays are exceptionally busy at work, on the go from that and I love to coupon and the best day to get the bargains at Walgreens is Monday, I am not a shelf clearer I usually will stock up from 1-4 on free items. However apparently not everyone else feels the same. I use to go Wednesdays but by then NO chance of the good stuff.
Mondays are also the day our friends daughter comes to the farm. She spends the first hour with John milking (she really gets into it) and then she used to sepnd the next 2 1/2 hours with me, usually an hour and a half in the garden and an hour in the kitchen making dinner or canning.
But now working I leave usually by 6:30-6:45am and don't get home till 6pm at the earliest. So Belle spends an hour with Eva (John's mum) feeding the calves and generally being treated like a princess.
Then she comes back to me, now the snow has melted we are planting, onions, peas and rhubarb so far. Aspargus, peas and parsnips next.
For me it goes, desperately try to get out of work by 5pm 5:15 at the latest to get home by 6, change eat a quick something before Belle gets back from across the driveway, start dinner, go to the garden, planting weeding etc.
Back to the house finish preparing dinner (bake cake or cookies) sometimes feed Belle and her family, shower, change the laundry over, eat if I haven't already, (sometimes fit in a webinar), dry my hair, clean up, prepare for the next day and then collapse in front of the TV with John who is already snoozing and wake up at midnight not knowing where the last 1 3/4 hours have gone.
Anyone else know this life? And this is before kids.

Back in the Garden
Saturday John and I took some household goods to an online auction business we have bought from previously. Stuff people have given us but we have no use for.
On the way home we filled the now empty truck when we stopped at a farm estate auction I have never bought before, but I went a little overboard new retro table chrome with green ice Formica square with 2 extra leaves to extend, 2 small kegs to plant flowers in and place on either side of the porch door and finally a retro metal cabinet with an art deco feel. Total $62.50 The table alone is worth about $250.
I spoke with my mum and in a not so surprising twist a comment which I expected empathy escalated into an argument yay not. Ironically at the end of the conversation I was not angry but a little outraged and hugely incredulous.
Sunday we intended to go to church but the day got away from us Johns mum came over for coffee, its her birthday, then I had to finish decorating her cake and desserts, Easter themed cupcakes. While John worked on my Greenhouse, he has designed and built from scratch.
So a month ago John and I tried to get an early start on planting, but the rains and subsequent snowfall have almost killed most of our early work. Not one carrot or parsnip came up. But we have had 7 pea plants appear.
So yesterday I replanted the peas and some additional Rhubarb. I also planted some Gladiolas in the white garden. My aim is to have perpetually flowering white blooms. It may take a few years.

A long time coming
So I have been very lax in my blogging. These things happen, so since I last blogged I joined weight watchers I have lost over 20lbs / 10kg, I have been at my job just shy of a year. I have discovered couponing and have my own stockpile :)

The wind quest - 5/21/10
So a job I have got, I got my Green card a little over 2 months ago, and now I have started at a company called Windquest which is changing its name in a couple of weeks to The Stow company. I am excited to see what will come. The world of organizing, just my fave :)
Depressed or Lazy - 4/10/2010
These are the recent thoughts which have been plaguing me. For instance I LOVE housework, or rather the end result. But I find it hard to get anything done, then I get one positive day and get 90% of thw ay there, but never make that extra 10% then I feel defeated and it all goes backwards.
