I am taking my Series 63 exam today (The Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination). I have 2 hours until I leave, the snowy winter roads mean making sure I have 3 hours to get a distance which usually takes 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours.
What is this all in aid of you ask, how can you use that on the farm? Well I can't, farming on a small family farm does not pay, in order to have kids and anything but a second hand life I need to work. Preparing for the big bad world when I have my Greencard though maybe I'll just end up working at the local supermarket.
The price of milk did not fluctuate very much in the stores last year but here on the farm they were paying us a pittance. You may think oh the price of fuel etc but the truth is far worse. Even after fuel had returned to semi-reasonable levels the price we were being paid kept going down. Fertilizer was still inflated although a little better.
We are one of the 'lucky'??? ones. We don't carry any debt, but then we don't have any credit either. Not an ideal situation, as the prices we were being paid were so horrible we were forced to buy on account where some companies charge 18-22% interest.
So here I am now trying to figure out what type of job I can get which pays a good salary without having to completely re-educate myself/ See we live just too far out of Chicago where I would find it easier to get a job in the finance field. I mean who wants to commute 4 hours a day??? Whilst I have done it in the past (my younger years) I do not want to live my life like that now.
I better get back to my final review I do NOT want to fail.
